What Happened to Amptify?

Search for Amptify today and you get old reviews, dead links, and a website that lands somewhere else. The short version: Amptify was acquired at the end of 2024 and no longer exists as its own product. Here is what happened, and what to use now.

For hearing aid users

The short answer

Neurotone AI, the company behind LACE, announced in December 2024 that it was acquiring Amptify, with the deal closing at the end of that year. Amptify's content was folded into the LACE AI Pro platform, and Neurotone said it was committed to "a smooth transition and continued support" for Amptify's existing customers.

The website tells the rest. As of July 11, 2026, amptify.com redirects straight to neurotone.com, and Amptify's old news pages no longer load. Amptify is gone as a standalone product, even though older articles still recommend it.

What Amptify was

Amptify was a digital hearing health platform developed at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. It grew out of clEAR, the game-based listening training program founded by Nancy Tye-Murray, whose signature idea was practicing with familiar voices — a spouse, a child, the people you most want to understand.

When Neurotone announced the acquisition, it pointed to Amptify's cochlear implant content and its communication strategies material as the pieces being carried over.

Where Amptify's ideas went

They went into LACE AI Pro. Nancy Tye-Murray joined the LACE AI Pro team, and the program now includes practice with recorded family voices alongside its own core: adaptive training for speech in noise, rapid speech, and memory-based exercises, backed by more than 20 years of research and over 10 published trials.

LACE AI Pro runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web, with store listings updated in June 2026. Access runs through a hearing care professional — you register with a provider rather than buying it yourself — and partner clinics list about $499 one-time.

What to use now

If Amptify's coached, research-rooted approach is what you wanted, ask your hearing care professional about LACE AI Pro. If they include it in your care, the provider step works in your favor: someone tracks your progress with you.

If you would rather start today on your own, you have options. ReDi from MED-EL and WordSuccess from Advanced Bionics are free and work with any device brand. SoundSteps — our app, so weigh this entry with that in mind — runs in any browser with a free version: word pairs, sentences, conversations, and stories, each with background noise you control, and full access for your first 7 days with no card.

LACE AI Pro: the direct successor, through a hearing care professional
