Auditory Training Apps in Spanish and Other Languages

Most listening practice apps are English-only. If you want to practice in Spanish — or German, French, Italian, or Portuguese — the field narrows to a few real options. Here is what exists today, including our own app, SoundSteps.

Why so few apps go beyond English

Listening practice depends on recorded speech, and every new language means a new library of recordings. That is expensive, so most apps never expand. Hearoes, eargym, WordSuccess, and Cochlear CoPilot are all English-only. Speech Banana adds Korean, and nothing else.

Three options offer real coverage beyond English: SoundSteps, LACE AI Pro, and ReDi. Each takes a different path to get there.

SoundSteps: Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, and French

SoundSteps is our app, so this section comes from the maker. You can practice in English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, and French — full activities in each language, not a translated menu over English audio. Practice covers word pairs, sentences, conversations, and stories, with adjustable background noise throughout.

It is consumer-direct: no provider registration, nothing to install, and a free version that runs in any browser. Your first 7 days include full Premium access (no card needed). It works with any hearing device or none.

LACE AI Pro: wide language coverage, through a provider

As of April 2026, LACE AI Pro from Neurotone AI supports English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Dutch, Polish, and Swedish. The program sits on more than 20 years of published research.

The barrier is access. You register through a hearing care professional rather than downloading it yourself, and Neurotone publishes no consumer price — partner clinics list about $499 one-time. If your audiologist offers it in your language, it is a strong option. If not, getting access takes more work.

ReDi: free, with wide language support

ReDi, from MED-EL, is fully free, and its store listing shows dozens of language localizations. It gives AI feedback on both listening and speech, works with any hearing device brand, and was updated in July 2026, more recently than any other manufacturer app.

It runs on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Check the store listing for your specific language before committing, since localization coverage and exercise depth can differ by language.

How to choose

Start with access. If you can begin today, free, in your language, you will learn more from two weeks of practice than from any comparison page.

The short version of the trade-offs is below.

SoundSteps (ours): English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, French — direct to you, free version, runs in a browser

LACE AI Pro: a long language list, deepest research record, but provider-gated and about $499 at partner clinics

ReDi: fully free, dozens of store localizations, phone and tablet only
